Sustainable Flowers: Why You Don't Have to Compromise Beauty for Sustainability

Do you love flowers but are worried about their environment impact? If you work with us you don’t have to compromise beauty for sustainability on your wedding day.

  1. We Source Locally. You would not believe the beautiful product that grows in the northeast: perfectly shaped ranunculus, dahlias the size of your head, and the sweetest smelling lilac, just to name a few. Not only does sourcing locally support local farmers and cut down on transport emissions, it also ensures your florals will be freshly cut and beautiful for your wedding. When designing, we always start with what is in season locally and base our design around that.

  2. We are Foam Free. When creating arches, installs, ground arrangements, and even when using some vases, florists soak foam bricks, or oasis, in water and stick flowers into them to keep them hydrated. This foam is non-biodegradable, can’t be reused, and is toxic to humans and animals. We love coming up with creative alternative solutions such as using chicken wire and floral tubes for our installs, both of which can be re-used several times over.

  3. We Compost. We always encourage our couples to have their guests take flowers home with them. We then compost what is left at our local farmer’s market. Composting reduces the need for chemical fertilizer and it also reduces landfill waste - a win win.
